Furniture Delivery


We offer two types of delivery. For smaller items and if the order is received before 11 a.m. and the item is in stock, we attempt to offer a Next Day Delivery service. Your parcel will be delivered by a one man courier and he will require you inspect the goods before requesting signature for receipt.

For larger items we offer a premium two man delivery service. You will be contacted by a specialist carrier who will arrange a suitable day for delivery. Your furniture will be delivered to your premises, unpacked and basic assembly undertaken where necessary. Finally the packaging will be removed and you will be asked to inspect the goods to ensure you are satisfied before signing to accept the delivery. Further information on each delivery service is detailed below. Please take the time to read this information so that you are aware of the delivery process fully and what will be required of you.

For Small Items that can be delivered by One Driver

If the item is suitable, and as soon as collected from our premises, your furniture is scanned and details uploaded to the Initial City Link website. You are then able to track the progress of your order by using your order number as a reference.

Your furniture will be delivered between 9am and 5.30pm. We regret that we are unable to specify an exact time. If you do require to specify a morning or afternoon delivery then this is available at a cost of £25 per item. Please do not ask us to leave your furniture anywhere other than your address as our courier will not release your furniture without obtaining a signature for receipt.

When your furniture arrives it is important that you inspect it for any damage BEFORE signing for receipt of the goods. This is extremely important as although Initial City Link has one of the most successful delivery rates in the UK, accidents do occasionally happen. By signing the goods receipt you are accepting that the goods have arrived safely and undamaged. Once you have inspected the delivery you will be asked to electronically sign for receipt and this signature is uploaded to the site within 15 minutes. If you are not happy with the condition of the goods you should inform the driver and refuse delivery. If you do not have time to fully inspect your furniture or the driver is not inclined to wait then you should sign for the goods as 'not inspected'

The courier will leave a card if you are not home, with a contact number of the nearest depot to arrange a more convenient time to deliver. Alternatively you can arrange to collect the goods from the courier’s local depot.

We do not deliver on Saturday as standard but this service is available at an additional charge based upon your location. Just select the option under the delivery section in checkout and leave the rest to us! There is an area within the delivery section for special delivery instructions, please feel free to use this section to let us know if you have special requirements.

We are able to arrange delivery to the Scottish Western Isles, Northern Ireland, Eire, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands, but this will be subject to a surcharge. Please contact us at for details of the costs involved.

For Large Items

This furniture will be delivered either by a specialist furniture delivery firm or on our own transport, due to either it's size or weight. Each item will be subject to a delivey time slot which will be notified to you in advance of delivery. Once we have received your order we will arrange for your furniture to be delivered to the national carrier unless it is being delivered on our own transport. A member of either our own staff or the national carrier staff will then contact you to organise a delivery day and anticipated time.

When the furniture arrives it will be unpacked and some light assembly if needed or required will be undertaken. You will be asked to check the furniture is acceptable before signing for receipt. If the furniture is damaged please inform the driver and the furniture will be returned to Swallow Barn Limited. Finally, the driver will offer to remove all packaging before leaving.

Where delivery is required to anywhere other than a ground floor location or where access may be difficult it is essential that you make prior arrangements with Swallow Barn Limited in advance of delivery. Please do not rely on being able to arrange matters with the driver on the day as this may not be possible or practical and you may well incurr additional costs as a result.
